About the Role
As a CNC Machinist – Precision Grinder in our Machine Shop, you will be at the heart of our manufacturing process, contributing to every stage from engineering design to final delivery. Your primary responsibility will be to produce complex, high-precision components that meet the exacting standards required by our Assembly, Aftermarket, and Spares departments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Precision Manufacturing: Craft complex components to meet detailed specification requirements, working from engineering drawings and adhering to stringent geometric tolerances.
* Advanced Machining: Utilize your expertise in materials and machining methods to produce parts with tight tolerances, ensuring product quality and conformity.
* Autonomous Work: Plan and manage your workload effectively, working with minimal supervision to achieve targets and KPIs.
* Safety and Quality: Adhere to the highest standards of health and safety, always working in line with Fives Values and Directives.
* Continuous Improvement: Foster a "Right First Time" mindset, always striving for excellence in every task.
* Flexibility: Adapt to shift changes as needed to meet business demands.
About You
* Technical Expertise: Extensive experience operating and proving out CNC cylindrical Studer machines (External/Internal Grinding), including programming (Studer Win), setting up components, grinding wheels, jigs, fixtures, and chucks.
* Precision Skills: A strong ability to work and measure within very tight tolerances (within 5 Micron range) and use metrology equipment to ensure product accuracy.
* Engineering Knowledge: Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and manufacturing components to achieve critical geometrical tolerances.
* Professional Experience: A 4-year time-served apprenticeship certification, with a proven track record in precision grinding and machining.
