At Transport for Wales we value diversity. It makes us stronger, helps us understand our customers better, make better decisions and be more innovative. Everyone's different and has their own perspective so we're building a diverse team that mirrors the communities we serve. Through this we're determined to be one of Wales' leading inclusive employers. We're creating an inclusive transport network that everyone in Wales can be proud of.

Who we are

At Transport for Wales, we're on a mission to transform transport in Wales and make it fit for the future, whether that's rail, bus, walking or cycling. We want to inspire a nation to change the way it travels, so that we all travel more sustainably and help to combat the climate emergency we're all facing.

We're an open and inclusive place to work, where everyone is welcome and our people are supported to reach their full potential. We want to create an environment where our people can grow and succeed. This is key to enabling us to deliver on the promises we've made to the people of Wales to build a sustainable transport network that meets their needs.

Apprenticeship Academy - What's on offer

Whether you're making your first transition into employment or changing careers and would like the opportunity to gain further qualifications without following the traditional educational route, an apprenticeship with us could be just the ticket to help you achieve your career goals and aspirations.

We firmly believe that everybody deserves opportunities to access apprenticeships and our aim is moving towards a diverse organisation at all levels. We want to be fully representative of our diverse communities across Wales.

When you join our academy, you will join a well-established community of apprentices across all areas of the business. You will have the opportunity to:
• Earn whilst you learn
• Gain valuable on the job skills and work experience
• Learn from industry experts
• Study towards a nationally recognised qualification at college, university or through one of our trusted apprenticeship delivery partners.
• Be part of our development programme where you'll have access to a wide range of learning and development resources to help you grow both personally and professionally.

Is an Apprenticeship right for you?

To help you decide if an apprenticeship is right for you, we have outlined the main eligibility criteria below.

• Most of our apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16 and there's no upper age limit. Please note that for safety critical roles the minimum age will be higher.
• You must not already be in full time education at the point of the apprenticeship start date.
• You must not have already achieved a similar or higher-level qualification in the apprenticeship role you have applied for. For example, if you have a degree in Engineering, you will not be eligible to apply for an Engineering apprenticeship. However, you could apply for another apprenticeship in a different profession, such as Finance.

Apprenticeship role responsibilities

We are recruiting a HR Apprentice to join our People Team. This is an exciting opportunity in which you will undertake a two-year defined programme that will contribute to the development and delivery of all HR related services, with a specific focus on Rewards and Benefits. You'll also study towards a Level 3 Business Administration qualification OR Level 3 CIPD with one of our trusted partners.

• Provide HR advice to all employees and responding to queries, using subject matter knowledge and TfW policies to provide guidance in line with HR objectives.
• Assist in delivering HR initiatives and provide administrative support for HR by supporting a wide range of HR activities to enable the department to make informed decisions to meet its objectives.
• Maintain employee records according to policy and legal requirements by updating records via TfW people systems to ensure HR records are accurate.
• Support the development and maintenance of data in relation to reward and benefits by generating relevant reports and metrics to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
