We are currently looking for
Non-Clinical Assessors to join our
Clinical Investigations and Trials
Function within the Scientific Research & Innovation** group.

This is a
full-time opportunity, on a
permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 4 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business.

Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 8 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office.

Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Remote working is potentially available for some specific roles. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment.

The Scientific Research and Innovation Group delivers public health impact, world-leading research innovation, and a unique regulatory proposition for patients and users via an ambitious Science Strategy which will balance innovation against sustainability and affordability.

It is divided into 6 sub-Groups, Innovation Accelerator, Clinical Investigations and Trials, Research and Development, Standards Lifecycle, Control Testing and Quality Assurance and Health & Safety.


The Clinical Investigations and Trials function is focused on informing design and authorising Clinical Trials and Clinical Investigations whilst supporting and enabling clinical sponsors.


What's the role?

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present objective assessment reports or other scientific papers to expert advisory bodies.
  • Provide scientific and clinical trial expertise in advice meetings with external stakeholders, obtaining crossagency or external support depending on the questions posed. Provide a written response to enquiries submitted through various sources, including internal customerfacing portals and the wider civil service.
  • Contribute where nonclinical input is required in critical clinical trial projects and contribute to the Innovative Licensing and Access Pathway (ILAP).

Who are we looking for?

  • Degree in toxicology or other appropriate life science with relevant postgraduate experience or PhD (or equivalent).
  • Up to date specialist level of knowledge in one or more relevant scientific or broader knowledge across the range of scientific activities concerning the nonclinical development of human medicinal products.
  • Evidence of effective decision making, including clear communication of the purpose and reasons for recommendations and decisions internally and to external experts.
  • Ability to handle the throughput of work commensurate with experience and knowledge to meet required deadlines while maintaining adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
