What you'll be doing

This role is within the Water Resources Management Team, which is required to track and deliver the statutory Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP).

The overall objective of the WRMP is to ensure we are not in a supply/demand deficit to the year 2100 whilstmeeting growth, and climate change impacts and providing environmental and drought protection improvements.

The approach is provided to all water companies via regulator and government guidance, such as the Water Resources Planning Guidelines.


This role has two key tasks:1) to technically track and report challenges in the company delivery of the demand reductions program in AMP7 against the existing WRMP 2019
2) to develop the demand reduction program for audit, Exec signs off and successful delivery within WRMP 2024, and future WRMPs. The latter task is developed in alignment with the five other Water Resources Southeast (WRSE) water companies.

Our objectives are driven by regulatory, government, and customer preferences, and are required to be signed off at our Executive and Board levels and fed into our business plan submission to Ofwat (PR24).

This role will lead the optimised demand reduction program to 2100, including leakage, customer usage and customer smart metering, through detailed engagement with business delivery owners and required consultants.

This will require agreeing and setting long-termdemand reduction goals and utilising all potential options to provide water reduction benefits, such as leakage and customer usage options, to provide cost-effective and best-value programmes of work.

Developing the programme will require close alignment withthe operational business for each option, engagement with the PR24 team and regulation to manage company Vision 2050 alignment.

It is expected that you will coordinate and own the program of work to deliver this to achieve successful delivery to time, cost,quality, and internal/external alignment.

You will be required to present and communicate development and programs of work to internal and external audiences up to senior management level and externally to Environment Agency and other key stakeholders.


We're looking for you to:

  • Expect at least 5 years of work experience successfully coordinating the delivery of multiple activity technical projects. Awareness of the water system, from water catchment to customer tap, and a good understanding of the network part of the system andoptions available to maintain it, including leakage, customer usage and smart metering. Proven record of working with key internal and external resources and clients to achieve a successful conclusion.
  • Proven capability to problem solve, analyse and provide programmes of work that have been quality checked.
  • Be qualified to degree level
  • Must have good IT aptitude; be proficient in Office products.
  • Proven capability to write technical documentation
  • Proven aptitude to effectively manage and work well within a team (whether internal or external) and experience in the management and supervision of external providers from a performance/budgetary perspective.
  • A resilient selfstarter and team player with the confidence to operate in a rapidly changing, challenging, and fastpaced environment at the management level.
