The Healthcare Staffing Programme has a requirement for a National Clinical Lead for Inpatient MHLD to join their growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of the Health & Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019.


The Healthcare Staffing Programme team are working with Health Boards across Scotland to support improvement in workload and workforce planning in line with new Health and Care (staffing) (Scotland) legislation.

The post holder will work with a range of stakeholders to scope current workforce planning tools and methodologies utilised to inform current inpatient MHLD workforce planning.

In addition, the post holder will provide expert senior leadership for the development, testing and implementation of a inpatient MHLD staffing level tool for inpatient MHLD services across Scotland, taking into account the need for multi-professional approaches and digital solutions to reduce the data capture burden.

The role will provide key clinical leadership and expertise to the MHLD Staffing Level Tool redevelopment within the Healthcare Staffing Programme.


The key outcome of this work is to enable workforce decisions that will ensure that at all times, suitably qualified and competent individuals from a range of professional disciplines, are working in such numbers as are appropriate for the health, wellbeing and safety of patients or service users, and the provision of high-quality health care for individuals across Scotland.


We are looking for a National Clinical Lead with strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as expert working knowledge in inpatient MHLD workload and workforce planning.

The post holder must have an ability to devise, implement and monitor a range of engagement strategies to ensure multi-professionals and various Professional Bodies across Scotland are actively engaged to support the work of the Healthcare Staffing Programme.
