Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning and Organisational Duties

  • To undertake the assessment of adults including those with a complex presentation using investigative and analytical skills and interpreting findings to ensureeffectiveintervention strategies.
  • To take clinical responsibility for a varied adult caseload of differing complexities and to organize this effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • To communicate complex information from assessment and treatment to clients, carers, and other professionals.
  • To ensure that clients are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their treatment plans wherever possible.
  • To develop and implement Physiotherapy treatment and to evaluate outcomes.
  • To work closely with clients, carers and other professionals to negotiate and agree clientmanagement.
  • To contribute to multidisciplinary and unidisciplinary teams to ensure a client focused approach to treatment.
  • To maintain up to date and accurate case notes in line with CSP professional standards and local trust policies.
  • To producere ports regarding client'sneeds and summarising proposed careplans.
  • To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidencebased practice and outcomemeasures.
  • To adapt practice to meet individual client's circumstances, including due regard for cultural and linguistic differences.
  • To share information with clients, carers and other professionals, observing data protection guidelines.
  • To demonstrate empathy with clients, carers and colleagues, ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly where significant barriers to understanding exist.
  • To always respond sensitively particularly when imparting potentially distressing information regarding the nature of the clinical difficulties and their implications.
  • To motivate clients, carers and other professionals to engage in the therapeutic process.
  • To use negotiation skills in the management of conflict across arange of situations.
  • To deal with initial complaints sensitively, avoiding escalation where possible, in line with trustpolicy.
  • To assess the capacity of the patient to give valid, informed consent.
  • To be able to work within alegal frame work for consent to treatment.
  • To communicate effectively with the adult patient and their carers to maximisetreatment potential and ensure understanding of their condition.
  • Addressing physical, psychological, and emotional barriers to effective communication will be regularly required.
  • Togather statistical data punctually.
  • To develop a working knowledge of relevant procedures including: safeguarding children,,working with vulnerable adults and other legal frameworks.
  • Todemonstrateknowledgeandapplyprinciplesofsafemoving andhandlingfor all Patients and therapy staff and care staff
  • To provide therapeutic handling and facilitation asclinically appropriate.
  • To demonstrate appropriate and safe use of therapeutic equipment.
  • To work in a range of positions including on the floor and sustain postures for short lengthsoftime.
  • To be accountable for own professional action and recognise own professional boundaries,seeking advice asappropriate.
  • To work within defined departmental and national protocols / policies and professional code of conduct.
  • To manage and prioritise own caseload independently in conjunction with senior Physiotherapy staff.
  • To discharge appropriately, agreeing a point of closure with the clients and carers and informing other professionals.
  • Post holders are required to work independently, guided by defined clinical & professional guidelines. Access to a more senior member therapist is available when necessary. Clinical work is evaluated on a regular basis.
