Here at Aspris, we are proud to be a leading provider of specialist education services with over 30 schools nationwide.
Fromefield Manor School will be a new SEN school located in central Frome, Somerset and will be a special school for up to 30 pupils, aged 11-19 who have a diagnosis of autism with associated complex needs.
Fromefield Manor will be operating through a Total communication approach and so experience of working with pupils with ASD and some knowledge of the use of TEACCH and PECS systems would be desirable. As Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Fromefield Manor, you will work alongside class teachers, assisting small groups of children with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
This is a unique opportunity to play an important part in the startup of an exciting new educational development within the Southwest Cluster of Aspris Schools. We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed people, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages, to join our newest school, Fromefield Manor School (Frome), from the 1st July 2024. The post holder will be responsible for whole school implementation and leading of the ASDAN programme.
We would like the successful applicant to start in September 2024 alongside the school officially opening.
Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
  • Providing support for learners, teachers and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes, and to encourage learners to become independent, to provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of learners in all aspects of school life.
  • Teach classes that are clearly structured, interesting and motivating.
  • Be aware of difference, promote inclusion and ensure that learners have equal access to opportunities t learn and develop. Foster and maintain positive relationships with all learners, parents/carers, visiting professionals and members of the local and wider community.
  • Use behaviour and management strategies in line with school policies and procedures and promote the emotional well-being of all learners.
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate learners progress through a range of activities and give verbal and written feedback to learners, parents/carers on their progress.
  • Contribute to the ethos and aims of the school by attending meetings and training sessions and by making a positive input at those meetings to the ongoing development of policies and procedures.
  • Assisting teachers in the support, training, mentoring of other learning support assistants.
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience of leading an ASDAN programme.
  • Has experience of supporting post-16 students.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of the educational and emotional needs of pupils with diverse learning requirements.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills to establish positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • Exhibits strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage individualised education plans effectively.
  • Shows flexibility, adaptability, and resilience when faced with challenges or changing circumstances.
