We are seeking a Band 6 Qualified in Specialty Neonatal Nurse who would be interested in joining our Practice Development Team working 2 long days a week in the Clinical Practice Facilitator (CPF) role and the remaining hours working on the NICU clinical Roster.

You will be responsible for facilitating all members of the nursing team.

The Practice Development Team facilitate all staff through the 'Development Pathway' from induction of newly appointed staff, preparation and support for the Qualified in Speciality modules and consolidation of skills following the course.

You will also work alongside pre and post registration students, acting as a role model to strive for the delivery of first-class patient care.

You will also help in the facilitation of mandatory training and study days to ensure all staff remain up to date in their knowledge and skills.

We are committed to the continuing professional development of our nursing staff and this is an excellent opportunity to influence education, development and learning within the neonatal unit.


The NICU is one of the 3 tertiary centres for the Eastern Neonatal network and part of the East of England Neonatal ODN.

The unit admits babies requiring tertiary neonatal care including surgery, ENT and neurosurgery.


The post holder will, without supervision, be responsible for providing evidence based education and guidance for the delivery of safe and effective clinical care by all nursing staff within NICU.

Assess care needs, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care.


Facilitate the orientation, induction and continued supervision of new and existing registered nursing staff to achieve clinical competence associated with skills required in the allocated specialty.

To orientate and support the preceptorship of newly qualified registered nurses as they integrate within the service.

To support pre and post registration students during their clinical placements to the service.

To ensure that mentors are complying with national standards as defined by the NMC.


To support the NICU Clinical Education Lead Nurse in the provision of mandatory training and study days developed to enhance learning within NICU/Maternity & Children's services.

Demonstrate leadership


Collaborate with the NICU Clinical Education Lead Nurse to create and implement strategies to enhance the delivery of evidence based practice.
