About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner to lead our teams in Cardiothoracic Surgery, Respiratory, and Cardiology medicine. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our clinical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage deteriorating patients across the trust, ensuring timely interventions and preventing unnecessary admissions to critical care.
  • Provide continuity and expertise in managing elective and non-elective cardiothoracic surgical patients from admission to discharge.
  • Facilitate daily ward rounds, ensure daily plans are followed, and contribute to timely discharge for patients.
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines, protocols, and policies to improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide education and training to nursing and medical colleagues.
  • Contribute to audit and research projects, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Valid NMC registration.
  • Current practice as an advanced practitioner at Band 7 or above.
  • Evidence of continued professional development to postgraduate level.
  • Master's degree level in a relevant field.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience and training in staff development, coaching, supervision, and teaching.
  • Ability to interpret clinical information and report as appropriate.
  • Competent in clinical assessment.
  • Non-medical prescriber's qualification.
  • Proven experience of audit and change management skills.
  • IT skills - basic working knowledge.
  • Ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • ALS provider.
  • Able to deal with many conflicting priorities.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and practices to meet changing service demand.
  • Ability to cope with emotionally demanding situations.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
