The team youll be working in


Working within the internal sales and customer services team, you will be an integral part of delivering a great service to a vast range of customers in all sectors.

Besides your immediate peers, you will also work closely with our Finance, Purchasing, CAD and Operations teams on a day to day basis to ensure that we deliver a great result for both the customer and our business.

What youll be doing
Specific responsibilities will vary depending on skills, experience and previous levels of operation.

There is scope either to grow into this role or to come straight in at a higher level if you already have good prior knowledge and experience in this sector.

Key aspects of the role may include some or all of the following:

  • Dealing with customer enquiries and providing quotes for work using our in-house quotation software.
  • Reading engineering drawings and incorporating requirements into quotes.
  • Understanding different types of material (mild and stainless steels, aluminium, copper and more) and providing advice to customers.
  • Building full understanding of our internal laser cutting, press braking and CAD offerings to make sure that we give comprehensive guidance to both existing and prospective customers.
  • Building knowledge of the various subcontract operations that we offer, such as painting, plating, welding and machining, so that we are confident in handling enquiries for such services.
  • Act and perform in line with company objectives.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Manage customer accounts consistently and comprehensively.
  • Convert and process enquiries into orders in line with company lead times.
  • Communicate regularly with customers to keep them updated on the progress of their orders.
  • Conducting prequote calls and followup calls in line with company SLAs.
  • Use negotiating skills to win orders at the right prices for the business.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure our customers receive an excellent allaround service.
  • Understand and following our credit management process for all customers.
  • First stage handling and resolution of customer complaints, ensuring any internal rectifications are properly actioned.
  • Compiling reasons for any quotes that are rejected by customers to assist with our understanding of the marketplace.

What youll need to succeed

Need to know

  • Customer service best practice, tools and tactics
  • Sales knowhow
  • How to put together a customer quotation.

The following knowledge will also be required at higher levels:

  • Knowledge of laser cutting, forming and fabrication
  • Knowledge of metals and the metal industry
  • How to read engineering drawings
  • CE marking and ISO standards.

Need to have

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to get things right.
  • Strong mathematics skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience of working in a sales or customer service environment.
  • Success in meeting targets and working to a service level agreement.
  • Experience of working in a process driven, fastpaced sales environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and organise yourself to achieve team goals.

The following experience is particularly desirable and will be looked upon favourably at all levels:

  • Previous experience of marketing, brand building or helping promote a business in new markets through multiple channels.
  • Previous experience working in a high quality, high service sales environment.
