Therapeutic Support Worker at Psychological Skills Service (PSS) Cambridge

We are looking for enthusiastic Therapeutic Support Workers to join our team at the Psychological Skills Service in Cambridge. It's a fantastic opportunity to be part of a transformative project aimed at bridging gaps in mental health care delivery.

Main Duties:
  • Building relationships with clients to promote a sense of safety
  • Delivering psychological skills to support individuals in their recovery phase
  • Empowering individuals to make their own choices and set recovery goals
  • Assisting clients in increasing community connections and independent living skills
  • Facilitating group interventions with the clinical team
  • Completing necessary documentation related to interventions

Experience in delivering brief psychological skills would be advantageous for this role.

  • Coordinate and deliver brief psychological interventions within the team
  • Develop skills and plans for clients such as graded exposure for anxiety management
  • Provide coaching in psychological techniques such as breathing exercises and challenging thoughts
  • Contribute to the development of referral guidelines for client inclusion
  • Identify when clients require interventions from other services and make timely referrals

Person Specification:Education & QualificationsEssential:
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with knowledge of mental health conditions
  • Good general education up to GCSE equivalent
Desirable:
  • Training in cognitive behavioral therapy or dialectical behavioral therapy
ExperienceEssential:
  • Clinical experience working one-on-one with individuals with mental health issues
  • Experience in supporting service users with tasks and routines
Desirable:
  • Experience in delivering CBT strategies or short-term interventions
  • Experience in facilitating therapeutic groups
Knowledge & SkillsEssential:
  • High-level communication skills
  • Ability to address psychological resistance in communication
