We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Therapeutic Support Worker to join our team in delivering skills underpinned by brief psychological interventions within the Psychological Skills Service (PSS) Cambridge.
Main Duties- Build relationships with clients to promote a sense of safety and well-being.
- Deliver and teach psychological skills, including anxiety management, low mood, graded exposure, and coping with voices.
- Support clients to make their own choices and identify recovery goals that are important to them.
- Assist with increasing connections in the community, reducing isolation, and increasing independent living skills.
- Support and facilitate group interventions with clinicians in the team.
- Complete relevant letters and reports related to interventions delivered.

Job Responsibilities- Assist in the coordination and delivery of skills-based brief psychological intervention skills within the team.
- Develop BPI skills, including graded exposure plans for clients when appropriate.
- Provide coaching in psychological skills, such as breathing techniques and challenging thoughts.
- Complete discharge letters of interventions carried out with training and supervision.
- Contribute to the development of referral guidelines and exclusion/inclusion criteria for clients who might benefit from this service.
- Identify when clients need interventions from other services and initiate timely onward referral as indicated.
- Support the development of brief psychological interventions and templates for formulation-driven support.
- Effectively communicate verbally with clients, carers, and colleagues using motivational interviewing skills and adapting communication style when needed.
- Establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with colleagues, clients, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent, and work within a legal framework with clients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
- Attend relevant external and internal courses to extend knowledge or gain relevant qualifications.
- Provide psychological skills interventions and maintain a clinical caseload under supervision.
- Assist the psychology team in the development of individual or group clinical materials or training materials.
- Support the Trainee CAPs with the Brief Psychological Interventions (BPI) project, evaluation, and publication.
- Act in a manner that supports a psychologically informed framework for the service.
- Assess and manage risk within an appropriate psychological framework.
- Work with other staff to assess and review clients' care in preparation for multi-disciplinary treatment reviews.
