An opportunity has arisen for a vibrant, suitably qualified, HCPC registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our dynamic secondary care adult mental health psychology psychosis service. This is a permanent, part-time (3 days a week) post in the secondary care. This post involves carrying out psychological assessments and interventions, offering consultation and supervision to psychologists and members of the multi-disciplinary teams.

The post holder would join a well-established and well-respected team of psychologists. We are a friendly, collaborative and supportive team who deliver time-limited and structured individual and group psychological interventions to adults with complex mental health difficulties. Candidates must have a doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Experience of working in an evidence-based way with clients presenting with psychosis and their families/carers. Be able to provide a highly skilled psychological service to clients with psychosis. Additional specialist training in advanced therapy skills, such as CBT and Family Intervention, as well as experience in teaching and delivering training, would be desirable. Experience and/or interest in setting up, running and/or co-facilitating groups would be desirable. You will receive expert supervision in family interventions, alongside supervision for CBT for psychosis. Main duties of the job
  • Use highly developed skills in the assessment and management of clinical risk and mental health conditions, and to undertake risk assessments and risk management for this client group, providing expert advice to colleagues on the psychological aspects of risk assessment and its management and effectively documented in a timely manner when needed
  • Deliver a culturally and ethically sensitive, equitable psychological therapy service to all minority groups regardless of race and ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, culture, religion, and disability to include service users in the design and delivery of the service.
  • To work closely with multidisciplinary members of other mental health teams ensure effective multi-professional communication and decision making.
  • To offer advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to psychology and non-psychology colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.
  • To contribute to the support of trainee clinical or counselling psychologists or psychotherapy/ counselling trainees on accredited training courses.
About us Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex. Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. High-CostArea Supplement This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of 4,313 and a maximum payment of 5,436 per annum pro rata).   • Post-graduate qualification in psychology or a psychological therapy (e.g. clinical or counselling psychology, psychotherapy) accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) or Core Mental health professional qualification in Occupational Therapy, nursing or social work. Plus Certificate/P.G. Diploma Level in CBT.
  • HCPC registration or eligibility
  • Thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of evidence based interventions for psychosis.
  • Thorough and expert knowledge of the theory and practice of CBT.
Desirable
  • Qualification in Family Interventions
  • Open Dialogue trained
Experience Essential
  • Working with people with complex mental health needs to include psychosis
  • Working/liaising with multi-disciplinary teams and other agencies in the provision of care
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with service users from diverse ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds.

  • Experience working with neurodiversity
Skills Essential
  • Well-developed knowledge and skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
  • Assessment and treatment planning for clients with complex needs, including psychosis
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups

  • Knowledge of research methodology, research design and data analysis
  • Teaching/training skills and ability to utilize a range of presentation methods within public, professional and academic settings.
