We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative HCPC-registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with an interest in working with the providers of services for adult homeless people in hostels. This is a part time post 15 hours a week.

The postholder will primarily support hostel staff to deliver trauma and neuro-informed work, develop their psychologically informed environments and support residents' inclusion into psychological services and therapeutic opportunities. The post is suitable for an experienced Psychologist who has an excellent understanding of working systemically across and within organisational boundaries. You must be keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse borough, have experience of working with people with complex mental health needs and from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well as working in partnership with staff teams and community organisations to deliver psychologically informed care. We plan to hold in-person interviews on Thursday 30th May - dates may be subject to change. Main duties of the job Core tasks will include facilitating reflective practice, staff training, providing psychological advice (informal, ad hoc , and formal consultation), assessment (including psychometrics and neuropsychological) and brief interventions with service users and carers. The post also involves the development of partnership working across all relevant sectors including health, social care, housing, criminal justice, work and education. The post holder will contribute to the Borough's Population Health Projects for homeless people in hostels. By supporting staff, the goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of homeless people, promote their social connections, community engagement and participation. We aim to develop and deliver our services through co-production with people with lived experience. The department has an excellent relationship with People Participation and the Local Recovery College. We would expect you to be fully committed to partnership working and co-production.   • Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
  • HCPC registration
  • Clinical supervision training for doctoral clinical /counselling psychology trainees
  • BPS accredited degree in psychology or equivalent
  • Breakaway Training
  • Additional relevant clinical and/or managerial knowledge and skills
Desirable
  • Further training in a therapeutic modality or psychological intervention relevant to homelessness e.g. trauma, trauma informed approaches, addictions
  • Further training in psychometrics and neuropsychological assessment and intervention.
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working as a specialist clinical or counselling psychologist in a multi-disciplinary team for adults with complex mental health needs
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of service user groups across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity
  • Experience of planning and exercising full clinical responsibility for service users' psychological care and treatment within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan
  • Experience of teaching, training, consultation and/or professional and clinical supervision
  • Experience of work in a multi-cultural setting, including working with interpreters
  • Experience of working in partnership within homelessness and/or third sector agencies
  • Experience of facilitating groups including groups for staff
Desirable
  • Experience of working as a qualified psychologist within services for people with addictions/complex trauma/homelessness/refugees/asylum seekers.
  • Experience of working in settings with acutely distressed service users
  • Experience of facilitating reflective practice groups
  • Experience of developing and delivering specialist training programmes
  • Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi- disciplinary/multi-professional/agency services/teams
  • Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts

  • Ability to provide a culturally competent and non- stigmatising service including an awareness of the potential impact of discrimination and disadvantage on mental health
  • Ability to support and co-ordinate the work of psychology colleagues within the service
  • Ability to co-ordinate the recording and reporting of clinical information as required
Desirable
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for complex health and social needs (e.g. trauma, self- harm, people diagnosed with 'personality disorder', psychosis, dual diagnosis, homelessness, persons with additional disabilities etc)
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for specific populations that psychological services have traditionally found difficult to work with
  • Highly-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of organisational consultancy models
  • Highly-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies - preferably including one or more from Systemic, CBT, Psychodynamic.
  • knowledge of the academic literature of the specialism
