Our Neptune Paediatric Unit has 16 beds catering for children aged 0-16 requiring medical, surgical and day-stay admission.

We have a designated PAU consisting of 6 beds, isolation cubicle and treatment room. Neptune Paediatric Unit is fully supported by a large team of multi-disciplinary professionals including Doctors, Physiotherapists, Dieticians, qualified play staff/specialists, Paediatric Educators and Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Main duties of the job

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate Compassion, professionalism and leadership qualities.

In liaison with the Unit Manager and fellow Band 6 Nurses, the nurse will lead and coordinate a dedicated team of nursing and support staff in the delivery of a high standard of nursing care. In the absence of the Unit Manager (Band 7), the Band 6 nursing team will be responsible for the effective deployment of ward/department resources (including manpower), and will be able to follow escalation policies in a timely and comprehensive manner. The nurse will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Governance systems in the ward/department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety and Controls Assurance. You will be responsible and accountable for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision for a defined group of patients.
