Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom LHH Recruitment Full time

Associate Director - Investments - Net Zero & Energy Supply Chain

Based: Edinburgh or Glasgow

The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking an Associate Director, who will play a crucial role in our mission to drive forward sustainable and equitable growth. We are a purpose-driven organisation dedicated to creating lasting environmental, societal, and financial impacts for the people of Scotland.

You will support the Senior Investment Origination Team in identifying, structuring, and closing successful investment transactions in debt and equity, focusing on the Bank's offshore wind supply chain investments and the broader net zero investment vertical. This role requires you to balance multiple time-critical deals in a complex environment, working as part of a supportive and skilled team.

We encourage all candidates who believe they can excel in this role to apply, even if you do not tick all the boxes. We value diverse experiences and perspectives, and your unique background could be a great addition to our team. We thrive on collaboration, support flexible working, and aim to build a fairer, more sustainable, and innovative Scotland.

About You
Professional experience in investing/financing net zero-relevant companies or projects, or relevant experience in the industrial or energy supply chain.
Degree qualified in Business, Finance, or related fields with commercial industry experience.
Professional qualifications (CA, CFA, ACT or similar) and experience in investment banking or private debt/equity institutional investment, particularly in energy, project finance, and infrastructure.
Experience in impact and sustainable investment techniques is welcome.
Practical 'origination to close' experience in a transactional/M&A context.
Knowledge of specific market factors in Scotland is desirable.
Enjoy working flexibly to client and transaction-driven deadlines in a diverse, solutions-driven team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Leading deals from origination through structuring and closing on various net zero and supply chain investments.
Collaborating with Investment Risk, Investment Legal, and Impact Assessment colleagues on all investment opportunities.
Managing due diligence, financial modeling, risk analysis, and mitigation in structuring loans, equity investments, or other deal structures.
Preparing investment papers and supporting more junior team members.
Ensuring legal documentation is successfully structured, negotiated, and concluded in line with approvals.
Developing strong relationships with the energy sector ecosystem in Scotland, including banks, advisers, institutional investors, and industry players.
Supporting the execution of the Scotwind investment strategy and maintaining relationships with government and industry bodies.

At the Scottish National Investment Bank, you will find a supportive culture that values your expertise and autonomy, encourages continuous learning, and offers opportunities for meaningful work. On offer is a salary range of 78-92k, depending on your level of experience. In addition, we offer 30 days annual leave plus public holidays; a 12% non-contributory pension and access to our EV Salary Sacrifice and Green Commute Cycle to Work Schemes, volunteer days and much more. We operate a hybrid working model and are very open to discussing flexible working patterns.

  • If you are eligible under the Disability Confident Scheme, or need any adjustments to support your application, such as information in alternative formats or special requirements to access our buildings, please reach out to us. Our commitment is to provide the support you need to participate fully in our recruitment process.
