Head of Patient Safety Incidents and Risk Assurance

This role gives the post holder a unique opportunity to make a positive impact to both patients and staff safety across a diverse health care environment


The post holder will be responsible for leading the Trust transition to Learn from Patient Safety Events System (LFPSE) and implementing the Patient Safety Response Framework (PSIRF).


You will lead our dedicated Serious Incident Team and Enterprise Risk Team and deputise for the Associate Director Quality Governance when required.


To be successful you will need to be highly organised, innovative, creative and passionate about patient safety and enterprise risk management.

You will have the experience, drive and enthusiasm needed for this complex but rewarding role.


The post holder will provide leadership and management of all aspects of patient safety events and enterprise risk management within NELFT.


The post holder will be responsible for providing expert advice on all patients safety event responses and enterprise risk related matters.

Their day-to-day remit will see them working closely with both corporate and operational directorates and services in the delivery of their functions.

The post holder will also be responsible for providing highly specialist governance and management support to formal committees and governance groups across the organisation

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.

All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.

As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

High Cost Area Supplement - London


This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177 per annum pro rata).
