We are delighted to be offering a permanent full time (1.0) position for an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our small and friendly adult team within Powys Teaching Health Board.

You will be based 2 days a week in the South Powys ALD team (Adults with Learning Disabilities) and work within a well-established MDT.

We also have sessions available in other clinical areas including AAC, voice, transgender, stroke and neuro and core adult community services.

We deliver the service in a variety of settings including, in-patient community hospitals, outpatient clinics and home visits.

We are a small friendly team who welcome passion, patient centred initiatives and evidence-based practice to support the delivery of our community service.

Powys Teaching Health Board Speech and Language Therapy department is a friendly and compassionate team who are passionate about providing a high-quality service despite the geographical challenges.

You will work as part of the multidisciplinary community ALD team 2 days per week to provide a specialist speech and language therapy service to adults with mild, moderate, severe and profound learning disabilities, including both communication and dysphagia.

Work will be undertaken in a variety of settings depending on the needs of clients and carers.


You will also have the opportunity to deliver specialist assessments and management for both communication and dysphagia difficulties including complex AAC, voice and transgender patients within in community settings, working within the adult Speech and Language Therapy team.

We are looking for someone who has experience in ALD but also wants to work within other areas of SLT.


The role can be offered at a Band 6 Annex 21 -Upon starting your role we will agree a training and development plan with you.

You will undertake an 18-24-month training programme to obtain the relevant competencies and experience to meet the role of Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the relevant specialist areas and all duties, as indicated within this job description at band 6.
