We are delighted to advertise for a passionate, innovative, and inspirational nurse leader to join our vibrant Jenny Lind Children's Hospital, in partnership with Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity as a Roald Dahl Children with Medical Complexities (CMC) Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Our fabulous Jenny Lind Children's Hospital incorporates inpatient, ambulatory, emergency and outpatient care. We treat children and young people across a broad range of specialties including Paediatric medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastics, and Gastroenterology, including a dedicated level 2 PHDU. We offer care to children living in Norfolk and for those accessing specialist treatment across the Eastern Region.

Main duties of the job As the successful post holder, you will:
  • provide clinical leadership and expertise within the speciality of Children with Medical Complexity by providing information, support, advice and specialist knowledge to patients, their families, and carers, and to act as a resource to the multi-professional team.
  • participate in the co-ordination of patient care to ensure continuity throughout the patient's care pathway. To be pivotal in review and development of the service, and to reflect the needs of the patient group.
  • lead the co-ordination of holistic and seamless clinical care for CMC, who are often known to several specialty teams, through the liaison with the health care teams of inpatient wards, outpatient department and primary care, including Consultant Physicians and GP's. To demonstrate wide and in-depth experience of all aspects of the speciality, exercising clinical leadership and effective education within their sphere of practice. To monitor and improve standards of care through clinical audit, leading the development of practice through research.
  • support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH's 'PRIDE' values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence

Job description Job responsibilities The following skills and experience will be required and are essential for the successful candidates:
  • To operate autonomously at an advanced level of clinical practice providing research based expert care and advice to all colleagues andmanaging a caseload effectively, making the most of available time.
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders including MDTs, CNSs, clinical teams, Consultants, therapists, and community nursing teams across the Trust/Health Board to facilitate improved patient flow, capacity and continuity of care.
  • To accept referrals from medical/nursing staff both within and external to the Trust, of newly diagnosed and existing patients
  • To ensure that patients are seen within the recommended time scales and targets where these are in place
  • To utilise specialist, skills, underpinned by in depth theoretical knowledge, to facilitate the Co-ordination of multidisciplinary assessments meeting the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of the CYP and their family at times of stability and crisis and together with the multidisciplinary team develop strategies to address these needs.
  • To respond to telephone enquiries and assess patients via telephone communication to co-ordinate admission or changes in appointment dates as warranted by the patients clinical condition, including the operation of a telephone helpline for the relevant speciality if required
  • Prepare and participate in patient reviews and child protection case conferences with team members and other agencies and providing reports as required.
