An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Invasive Cardiac Clinical Physiologist to join our Pacing Team.

We have five Consultant Cardiologists and currently serve a population of approximately 390,000. The Cardiac Catheter Suite and Pacing Service is based at Royal Preston Hospital. We also provide a pacing service for in-patients across site at Chorley District General Hospital. You should therefore have a flexible attitude and the willingness to travel between sites, if required.


We require an enthusiastic individual to be jointly responsible for the day-to-day running of the invasive service, including CIED interrogations, bradycardia pacemaker implants, internal loop recorder implants and coronary angiograms.

You will need to undertake routine, complex and specialised procedures, providing and recording accurate results. You should be self-motivated, well organised with excellent communication skills, work well within a team and on own initiative and have the ability to prioritise and use your own initiative


Continuous professional development is strongly encouraged and you will have an excellent opportunity to develop and further your skills and knowledge.


You must have proven post-registration experience with a BSc (Hons) Degree qualification in Cardiac Clinical Physiology or equivalent, BHRS or IBHRE accreditation.

You should have extensive experience as a senior cardiac physiologist and must have RCCP registration.

  • Ensure a high standard of technical and clinical competence.
Specialist in all Invasive Cardiac Physiologist roles and cardiac device follow up.

  • Perform, analyse and report all routine investigations within Cardiac Physiology Laboratory including electrocardiography, ECG Holter analysis, BP analysis, Tilt Table Testing, Exercise and Event monitoring to the required local and national standard.
  • Perform analyse and report complex studies
  • Ensure calibration and quality control of equipment is carried out for all procedures
  • Assist and support Lead Cardiac Physiologist in the safe effective management of the department including management of personnel, facilities and associated systems and processes.
  • Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
  • Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager.
  • Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care
  • Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice
  • To participate in education and training of junior staff.
