Media Transformation Specialist

London, Greater London, United Kingdom native Full time

CONTRACT ROLE - 3 to 6 Months

As a Media Transformation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in driving the successful transformation of our digital and physical media assets. This activity goes to the very heart of the native value proposition, giving you the opportunity to leverage your consulting / leading blue chip background, meaningful ad-industry experience, and proven high energy/high bandwidth operating-style to do super-interesting, very high-impact, work from the get go.

After completing our onboarding process, you'll immediately move on to refining and ramping up how we evaluate our current media assets (including their condition/ legibility, sales & distribution channels, and financial performance/yield). Thereafter, you'll identify areas for improvement, structure and get sign-off on cross-functional programmes of work, and then drive the implementation of solutions to enhance asset quality, marketability, and revenue generation.

Working closely with colleagues in both AdOps & Delivery and SU Success & Asset Management, you'll help transform the UK's Students Unions into commercial, legible, and standards-based advertising venues each offering a very similar range of high-value digital, physical and experiential inventory with appropriate sales/distribution models aligned to the purchasing preferences of national brands and agency holding companies.

You'll be driving a team of three, with your immediate team-mates being a programme/delivery manager, a supply-side subject matter expert, and a data analyst. However, as someone executing on a key pillar of our strategy, you will be able to rely on significant additional resources across both our commercial and enabling value-streams, and will be expected to build the necessary internal relationships to enable this.

Given the strategic importance of the work you'll be doing, and in addition to reporting to our CTO, you will also be expected, on a regular basis, to report, advise, and collaborate with our CEO, COO and other senior leaders across the business.

Key Responsibilities:Analysis and Research
  • Conduct rapid, yet thorough, analysis of our current media operations, workflows, and systems, understanding how we currently manage, sell and distribute inventory derived from our digital and physical media assets.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in media processes (asset management, adops/trafficking/delivery, sales/distribution), focusing on how we standardise & rationalise our assets, sales and distribution models so that we can take to market a range of high-value digital, physical and experiential inventory
  • Identify and drive adherence to key best practices as we internalise media transformation within native, as well as championing the adoption of best-in-class physical/digital advertising operating models to maximise commercial outcomes
Project Management
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and management of media transformation projects, including gathering better data on our current asset pool so that we may meet industry standards within our sales/distribution endeavours
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product & Tech, Demand & Sales, Ad Ops & Delivery, SU Success & Asset Management, and external vendors.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into actionable plans
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and presentations to communicate findings and project progress
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with project goals
Solution Design and Implementation
  • Develop and propose commercially-sound solutions to enhance media operations and advertising capabilities across digital and physical assets (including experiential / on-site)
  • Collaborate with Product & Technology teams & SMEs to design, test, and implement new systems, tools, and processes
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with business objectives and industry standards
Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data to measure the impact of media transformation initiatives
  • Either directly, or in partnership with a data analyst, create detailed reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and project milestones
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis
Change Management
  • Support change management activities to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and technologies
  • Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for staff on new systems and procedures
  • Monitor and address any issues or resistance to change, ensuring continuous improvement
Qualifications:

Education:

  • BSc from Russell Group (or equivalent)

Experience:

  • ~3-5 years, including significant commercial experience in media, advertising, and/or adtech
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering transformation projects involving digital and physical assets

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent project management and organisational abilities
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, BI tools)
  • Familiarity with media and advertising technologies (e.g., DSPs, SSPs, ad servers)
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Key Competencies:

  • Strategic Thinking
  • Attention to Detail
  • Mega commercial
  • High bandwidth output
  • Servant-leadership

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require occasional travel across the UK
  • The role may involve working outside regular office hours to meet project deadlines
