The School of Engineering seeks to appoint a SPADS Doctoral Programme Administrator. This position will report to the SPADS CDT Programme Manager within the School of Engineering.

The Opportunity:


The postholder will provide executive level support to the Centre Manager of the SPADS programme, and to the Centre Director/Principal Investigator, as required.

The postholder will provide administrative support for the day-to-day running of the Centre in accordance with funder guidelines, including administrative processes, student liaison, support for events and the Centre Management Board.


The SPADS doctoral programme will train the next generation of highly professional defence scientists, including engineers, computer scientists, and mathematicians, capable of leading developments in cutting-edge and generation-after-next technologies in information and communication technology that are poised to transform not only the world of defence & security, but also the broader civilian society.

This role is UE06 and is available on a fixed term basis for up to 8.5 years.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • An UG degree plus relevant experience; or substantial vocational experience in progressively more demanding roles involving significant project management and financial administration experience in an academic, industry or third sector environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience in managing high value budgets /high risk projects, preferably within an academic environment High quality line management skills, effective written and oral communication skills; and also a commitment to staff development and mentoring.
