The Role

British Council Pay band: (Grade 9) starts at £55,699 per year + £3,300 per year London allowance when applicable

Location : Any UK office (London, Belfast, Edinburgh, Cardiff or Manchester)

Role Purpose

As Head of Talent Attraction, you will support Talent Acquisition (TA)'s mission to connect British Council with great talent by leveraging our brand to attract talent that aligns with our values, and by delivering an equitable and inclusive candidate and employee experience.

In this new global role, you will develop and implement effective and creative talent sourcing strategies, leveraging our recently acquired talent intelligence platform to sharpen attraction channels and optimise the candidate experience.

Role Context

The People function as well as the wider organisation is undergoing a significant level of change as part of our strategic response to the key challenges facing the organisation, including the need to remain sustainable in our spend, agile in our approach and effective in the way we work.

Working within a global matrix organisation, your role will demand strong influencing skills and an ability to building relationship across functions and regions.

Based within a TA Centre of Expertise, you will work collaboratively with TA Leaders, People function colleagues and especially our Marketing, Digital, Brand and Communications teams.

Main Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a talent attraction and engagement strategy including a digital/social media attraction element.
  • Support the implementation of a new global talent intelligence platform.
  • Establish and monitor sourcing and cost per hire analytics and embed in technology platforms.
  • Ensure all attraction and sourcing channels deliver a diverse talent pool and improve the attraction of under-represented groups.
  • Develop the EVP and ensure that it is deployed into all attraction channels, including the talent/career portal, and ensure its delivery throughout the candidate engagement cycle.
  • In collaboration with the Digital department, manage LinkedIn and any other channels presence as required, as part of the attraction and engagement strategy.
  • Develop a talent pipelining strategy for the British Council based on critical priorities and delivering measurable diversity benefits.
  • Contribute to the development of the Talent Acquisition strategy, sharing expertise and learning while ensuring an integrated approach to all resourcing activities across the organisation.

Role specific knowledge and experience required

  • Experience of developing and delivering TA campaigns and strategies at scale, including on social media. Experience of using data and evidence to develop strategy and influence stakeholders while navigating ambiguity.
  • Experience of developing and embedding EVP, employment branding, talent attraction tools, technology and strategies, social media.
  • Ability to identify organisation priorities/workforce plans and translate them into Talent attraction strategies, plans and campaigns.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Strong client management and consulting skills.
  • Experience in designing and embedding KPI's for Talent Sourcing activities, to implement change and drive continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of recruitment processes, and specifically talent attraction and sourcing tools and strategies.
  • Knowledge of EDI best practice in talent sourcing context.
  • Experience of managing suppliers in TA marketing and attraction, including account management.
  • Experience of developing LinkedIn and other attraction channels to build EVP and attract talent.

Education/ Professional Qualification and Certification

  • Recruitment, Marketing or HR qualification (desirable not essential) or equivalent in job experience.
