We are looking for applications from highly motivated, enthusiastic, and mental health professionals who are committed in promoting patient focused care and treatment for adults within the acute hospital. The successful candidates will have excellent leadership skills and work across the acute general hospital to provide mental health assessments and brief interventions to patients in the Emergency Departments and in-patient wards, as well as support, advice, and training to acute hospital colleagues. The successful candidate will a receive a robust induction and regular supervision and reflective practice. The post holder will be required to work a flexible shift pattern over 24/7. Main duties of the job Liaison Psychiatry is the sub specialty of Psychiatry involving assessment and management of mental health needs related to physical problems. Clinical presentations span a wide spectrum from organic psychosis, severe depression or somatoform disorder to adjustment reactions, delirium, dementia and abnormal health behaviour. This service aims to provide acute hospital staff with specialist advice on the management of psychological problems. The team prioritises on risk, location and complexity of referrals and coordinates resources appropriately. Autonomous working, diagnostic skills, formulation, and comprehensive risk assessment are important to make a safe management and discharge plan. The primary function of this role is to provide clinical leadership to the day-to-day operation of the team (Across all services within Liaison Psychiatry). However, it may be appropriate for the post holder to carry a small caseload of service users, for example in the delivery of a specialist intervention.
