Main duties of the job

As an Insulin Pump and Inpatient Diabetes Specialist Nurse, you will be responsible for managing and supporting patients with insulin pumps, inpatient diabetes ward round and reviews, ensuring optimal care and outcomes. Your role will involve, providing expert advice, training, and support to both patients and healthcare professionals.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: Manage and support a caseload of patients using insulin pumps, ensuring optimal diabetes control and patient satisfaction. Provide specialist training and education to patients and their families on the use of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems. Working as part of the inpatient diabetes team to deliver comprehensive diabetes care, including the development of individualised care plans. Conduct regular follow-ups with patients to monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and contribute to service improvement initiatives. Keep abreast of the latest developments in diabetes technology and treatment, incorporating best practices into patient care. Deliver educational sessions and training programs for healthcare professionals on insulin pump therapy and inpatient diabetes management. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with NHS policies and Provide effective leadership and management to the nursing team, ensuring high standards of care are Oversee the daily operations of the team, ensuring optimal staff allocation and resource Mentor and support junior nurses and healthcare staff, fostering a positive and collaborative working Conduct performance appraisals and support professional development plans for nursing Lead and participate in departmental meetings, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes.

Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master's Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice Provide evidence of leading learning in practice Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice Have experience with using insulin pumps Have experience working within the inpatient setting caring for people with diabetes
