Southampton Children's Hospital are looking to recruit an experienced, versatile and enthusiastic administrator to support their busy Clinical Specialist Nurse teams.

The role will provide administrative support to specialist nurses to deliver patient care across various specialities within the Children's Hospital including, but not exclusive to the Sickle Cell service, Haematology, Gastroenterology and Allergy.


Southampton Children's Hospital is part of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) and is one of the largest teaching trusts in the country.


Southampton Children's Hospital is a major centre for specialist paediatric services across the south of England providing acute specialist care to our local population as well as a wider geographical area that includes the Isle of Wight and Channel Islands.

It is the only Paediatric Trauma Unit outside of London and across the south of England.

Your Responsibilities
What you'll do

  • You will be responsible for booking, rescheduling, and cancelling patient's outpatient appointments using the hospital patient administration system and liaising with families to advise of any changes to appointments.
  • You will communicate on behalf of the nursing team with families regarding their child by telephone and in writing and document these communications electronically
  • You will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders including GP surgeries and other hospital providers to locate test results and other information requested by the nursing team
  • You will undertake administration tasks commensurate to role as directed by the nursing team.
