To lead on complex financial issues and provide strategic, financial and business planning advice across all aspects of directorate's services.

To be the primary contact point between the Division's Leadership team and the Finance Department for key operational and strategic issues.

To ensure that Trust objectives are met, in particular ensuring their Financial Statutory obligations are met. The post holder will be responsible for increasing the level of business expertise within the Directorates.


To achieve this, the post holder will be expected to work closely with Clinical Directors and Managers both within and outside the Division to model financial and non-financial information, to enable informed decision making on business processes and plans, which improve and enhance the overall productivity of the Trust.


The post holder will develop awareness and provide expert business and financial management advice playing a key role in the Division's CIP programme to ensure the long term financial stability and viability of the Division.


The postholder will support the Division in all aspects of decision making, in particular the postholder will be expected to take the lead in all financial and business issues.

Within the finance department the postholder will be accountable to the Head of Finance.

The post holder will work autonomously, seeking guidance only when necessary and will be guided by national policy and regulations, advising the organisation on how these should be interpreted and implemented.


The postholder will be responsible for managing the finance section, (Finance Manager and Senior Accounts Assistants) which in turn supports the division.

In addition to this the postholder will have managerial responsibilities as part of the multi-disciplinary divisional team, and be responsible for performance management of the division in respect of finance and business issues.


The postholder will ensure that the resources required to deliver the divisions service plans and targets are accurately identified, costed and translated into budgets, that are realistic yet challenging and demonstrate improvements in efficiency.


The postholder will take the lead in the co-ordination of the Divisional Month end position and responsible for reporting the position to the Division and executive board at the Divisional Quarterly review.

The postholder will provide budget holders, with timely and accurate monthly budget reports including interpretation and advice, to enable the achievement of financial targets


Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Provide technical and professional expertise that will ordinarily have been developed through the completion of a Professional Accountancy Qualification, and a significant period of post qualification experience.


The post holder will be the financial expert to the Divisional Teams, advising on financial governance, long and short term strategy, audit requirements and business decisions taken at Divisional level.
