King's Residences is a department within the Estates and Facilities directorate at King's College London.

Overseeing 13 Halls of Residences for around 6000 King's students, we are a dynamic and passionate team dedicated to ensuring the students receive the greatest living-in experience during their academic study.

The main purpose of this role is to provide strong and inspiring leadership to the out-of-hours Residences student support teams.

The Residential support teams provide a pastoral, wellbeing support service to our students in Halls during the evenings, night-times and weekends, when centralised support services may be closed.

In the 2024/25 academic year, we will have 42 volunteer workers in our Residence Welfare Lead team, across 13 Halls of Residences.

The team is led by 6 Welfare Team Leaders, whom you will have direct line management responsibility for.

We anticipate the need for team grow and evolve in future years due to increasing student numbers and demand for the service.

We want to ensure that there is strong stewardship in place through this position to anticipate this growth and to ensure the wellbeing of the team, as well as continuing to provide a World Class Service to our students.

You will be responsible for providing robust team management and oversight, including leading on the annual review of team functionality, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance support and team welfare support, in pursuit of the highest performing team possible.

This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. The role is Monday - Friday, with some evening and weekend work required at key points within the year.

As this role oversees a team of night shift workers, a degree of flexibility in standard working hours is required.

Educated to degree level in related disciplines and/or have professional qualifications or significant relevant work experience with wellbeing, welfare or working within education.

# Strong understanding of HR related activities, notably performance management and inclusive, supportive recruitment processes and procedures.
# Minimum of 2 years line management experience.
# Experience with developing and presenting training or leading on meetings to a large team.
# Mental Health First Aid certificate or similar training (ideally Instructor Member with Mental Health First Aid England or similar).
