Educational Mental Health Practitioner

The EMHP role consists of:

Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people,with mild to moderate mental health problems, in named education settings in Calderdale.

Helping children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services.

Supporting and facilitating staff in education settings to identify, and where appropriate, manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.


Providing a range of psychoeducation services for staff in education, parents and carers, which may take the form of 1:1, group work or training (in person and online).Working knowledge of Whole School Approach activities and their implementation.

;Working with and within educational environments to afford better access to specialist mental health services.

Promoting the MHST at events such as parents evenings, open days, assemblies etc. To evidence continued professional development of their skills through regular supervision, caseload management, peer supervision and CPD.
