Sheffield, Sheffield, United Kingdom St. Luke's Hospice Full time

St Luke's is an organisation that is dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life of all those affected by a terminal illness in Sheffield.

No patient or family is ever the same, and our journey with each individual is unique.

Through the provision of high quality care, support, compassion and respect, we aim to improve the lives of these people at some of the most challenging times of their lives.

Our values embody our way of working and they are Dignified, Compassionate, Inspired and Pioneering. Working for St Luke's offers a real opportunity to make a difference to local people.

About The Role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and qualified counsellor to be involved in a variety of the aspects of delivery and development of a bereavement service.

The Bereavement Service at St Luke's offers a range of services to support the bereaved whose relatives or friends received palliative care from St Luke's.

Much of this support is provided by trained volunteers.

You will maintain your own counselling caseload and, equally importantly, have a significant and substantial involvement in the supervision and training of bereavement volunteers.

You will also maintain a telephone contact caseload of bereaved relatives, engage within bereavement education groups and support the day to day running of the Bereavement Service as required.

Flexibility is essential as some of out of hours work will be required on occasions.

You will be qualified as a counsellor to Diploma level, have post-qualification counselling experience, and be accredited or working towards accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, or equivalent.

You will have experience and/or an interest in working with the bereaved, and an understanding of bereavement processes. An interest in group work, as well as one-to-one support, would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities
-
Counselling and Support: Manage a personal caseload and provide telephone support to bereaved families.
-
Volunteer Engagement: Supervise and train bereavement volunteers, offering guidance and support through meetings and communications.
-
Service Development: Assist in planning and improving bereavement projects and services.
-
Administration: Perform routine tasks, maintain accurate records, and represent the service in hospice meetings.
-
Education: Conduct bereavement education sessions for colleagues and peers.
