Job summary

A new exciting opportunity has arisen within Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust to work as a Bereavement coordinator within our newly established bereavement service.

You will liaise closely with the clinical teams (nursing and medical)to ensure bereaved family members receive timely and appropriate appointments according to the bereavement care pathway.

You will provide administrative support to the new Bereavement nurse, as well as being the initial contact point for bereaved families, with the expectation that you will deal with any enquires with empathy and compassion and signpost where appropriate in a timely manner.

You will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and their families with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. You will share the Trust values and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Main duties of the job

Organise and schedule bereavement support sessions, meetings, and memorial services for individuals and families.Collaborate with colleagues across the Trust to ensure coordinated and responsive bereavement support.Maintain accurate records of participant information, support session attendance, and interactions, ensuring confidentiality and administrative tasks related to bereavement support programs, including documentation, record-keeping, and data entry.Provide information and resources to individuals seeking bereavement support, offering guidance on available services, counselling options, and community resources.Facilitate referrals to appropriate support services or external agencies as as a compassionate point of contact for bereaved individuals and families, offering empathetic assistance and emotional support and practical assistance to bereaved individuals, including listening to their concerns, addressing their needs, and offering comfort during their time of grief.Contribute to the development and enhancement of bereavement support programs within the hospital, providing input on program initiatives, resources, and improvements.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent). Knowledge of a range of IT areas, formal training or experience to diploma level or equivalent.

Desirable

Higher IT qualifications. A level standard qualification

NHS operational experience Working knowledge of hospital systems (EDMS/CAREFLOW) Ability to use information to effectively support the improvement of performance and service delivery

Experience of managing information, sharing and analysing data Knowledge of medical terminology
