Mental Health Support Worker

For this role you will be required to travel between Herne Bay and Canterbury to provide support with two different services.

Hours are generally 9am to 5pm and normally shorter at the weekends.

Full time staff will need to take turns in covering out of hours on call*.


You will be required to work with the people we support to build on their daily living skills - anything from helping them manage their finances to supporting them to cook a meal.

The aim is to promote their independence so that they can gain the skills and confidence to move on into the community.

Staff are required to do some housework, paperwork (IT skills are needed) and to be prepared to be flexible to the needs of the service as every day is different.


Herne Bay service
This is a 5 bed property support 5 adults. This service is a short walk to the sea.

Canterbury service
This is a 6 bedroom shared home that is a 15 minute walk from the city centre. (There is also a bus stop right next to the house and buses come regularly, with a 10 minute walk to the local train station.)

You will support these people:

  • To live the life they want to lead, make decisions, have as many choices about their lives as possible.
  • To make each day the best it can possibly be.
  • To maintain their existing skills and develop new ones.
  • To access facilities in the local community and take part in activities outside of their home.
  • To look after their home, cooking, shopping, keeping it clean, tidy and safe.
  • To look after their health and take any medication.
  • To achieve their ambitions as set out in their support plans.
  • To assist with the management of their finances.
