About the Position
Energy companies in the UK holding hydrocarbon licenses are subject to stringent regulatory requirements, particularly concerning the management and reporting of their subsurface data.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring compliance with subsurface data regulations by overseeing the identification, management, preparation, and submission of data and information.
Your efforts will facilitate informed decision-making, mitigate compliance risks, streamline data accessibility, and drive cost efficiencies.

The Subsurface Data Compliance Specialist will oversee Well & Seismic data management services, focusing on regulatory compliance aspects such as Information and Samples Retention and Reporting obligations. This will involve working with client databases, coordinating compliance enhancement initiatives, and developing Information and Samples Plans (ISPs).

This full-time role operates on a hybrid schedule, with 3 days spent on-site with clients and 2 days working remotely.

Qualifications
This role calls for meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of geotechnical data and systems commonly utilized in subsurface data management.

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Subsurface Data Management
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Regulatory Framework related to Information and Samples
  • Proficiency in creating and implementing Information and Samples Plans
  • Experience in supporting license rounds
  • Familiarity with UK Energy Portal applications (PEARS, WONS, PETS, etc.)
  • Exposure to the UK National Data Repository
  • Understanding of physical storage, digitization, transcription, and retention schedules
  • Working knowledge of corporate data governance
  • Detailed understanding of Subsurface data lifecycles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies
  • Process-oriented and methodical approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualifications or certifications in Data Management (CPDA, RGU PDM / EDM courses)
  • Previous experience as Information and Samples Coordinator (ISC), PON_9 Coordinator, Former CDA Council, Licence Coordinator, or similar roles
  • Basic knowledge of geospatial concepts
  • Familiarity with DPA/GDPR and corporate data contract restrictions
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks
  • Understanding of Business Analysis and Project Management methodologies
