UK Financial Institutions Group Sales Director
Mercer is a leading global provider of investment solutions, with assets under management in excess of US$ 300 billion.

We offer Investment funds and discretionary management services to a broad range of clients globally including pension funds, insurance companies, charities and wealth managers.


Mercer is looking to further expand its presence in the UK Financial Institutions Group segment, and the Sales Director will play a critical role in the continued successful implementation of the sales strategy for Mercer's investment solutions business.

Reporting to the Dan Melley and working collaboratively with Mercer's wider team, the role will be responsible for developing sales opportunities for investment solutions across a range of client types including banks, discretionary managers, financial advisers, insurance companies, family offices, multi-asset managers, fund platforms and other types of wealth managers / financial intermediaries.


Key Objectives of the role:

  • Increase revenues, AUM and clients from financial institutions in the UK
  • Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions to produce sustainable, profitable business growth
  • Improve awareness of Mercer's investment solutions amongst all types of financial institutions
  • Educate internal stakeholders on the developing needs of financial institutions and provide feedback on industry trends and market intelligence
  • Lead prospect pitches and manage internal resources to help maximize effectiveness
  • Effective internal and external networking to generate and develop new leads
  • Deliver to preagreed AUM and revenue targets
  • Working collaboratively and alongside a dynamic existing team to execute the sales strategy
  • Attend networking and industry events in the pursuit of new business development opportunities sometimes this may involve representing Mercer by presenting at these events.
  • Any other adhoc projects/duties and business development focused activity as required.

Position Requirements

  • Demonstrable success in raising AUM with a focus on UK financial institutions
  • Solid knowledge of and relationships with UK financial institutions, knowledge of hedge funds and private markets an advantage
  • Degree educated and further industry qualifications (IMC, CFA, CAIA etc.) would be advantageous
  • Experience of new business and successfully executing the sales lifecycle from prospecting new clients to closing and funding the deal.
  • An understanding of consultative selling.
  • Exposure to developing strategic and innovative lead generation programs.
  • Committed to a career path within business development
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build solid working relationships and influence and persuade at senior level (internal and external)
