The Role


The Student Progress Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Examinations & Awards Assistant to join the Examinations & Awards Team.

You will liaise with external suppliers as well as multiple colleagues, teams and services from across the University to help plan, coordinate and facilitate successful and memorable graduation ceremonies and events that support the student experience and help to enhance the University's reputation.


You will work closely with other members of the Examinations & Awards Team on the efficient production and secure distribution of award certificates to ensure the integrity of the awards and qualifications issued by the University.

You will also provide key support for the verifications and electronic documents services.


You will have exceptional planning and organisational skills and be able to communicate effectively with a range of colleagues and external suppliers.

You will be able to work on your own initiative, as well as within teams, and produce work to a high level of accuracy when under pressure and when working towards strict deadlines.


As a member of the Examinations & Awards Team, you will also provide support for the successful delivery of the University's examinations.

The Examinations & Awards Team is part of the Student Progress Service which offers a high quality and diverse range of services to students, graduates and staff throughout the entire student life-cycle.

This role is part time (0.6 FTE) at 22.2 hours per week which can be spread over 3-5 days. At certain peak times of the year there will be an opportunity to work additional hours (e.g. in the lead up to, and during, the graduation periods in July and December).

Key Accountabilities
the creation, printing and accurate dissemination of the approx. 11,000 University certificates issued annually on secure paper as well as the generation of the secure and verified electronic copies issued via the electronic documents portal (Digitary CORE) the delivery of the congregations enquiry service including the provision of advice and guidance to both students and staff on matters relating to awards and congregations events, and to ensure that queries are dealt with appropriately in a timely manner the processing of award verification requests received from third parties and the daily operation of the electronic documents portal including the certification, signing and releasing of documents and responding to queries the administration of all finance-related activity in regard to congregations including the careful processing of both income and expenditure related to congregation events; and the stock management of the materials and equipment required for congregations
Examinations & Awards Assistants (Awards) work with senior members of the Examinations & Awards Team to: assist in the reviewing of the processes and functions of the Examinations and Awards Team in order to provide a continuously improving service to students, graduates and other University departments provide support to the examinations functions as required and assist with other Student Progress Service events/activities (as required) including exam periods and registration
