Position Overview

This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant team engaged in pioneering water management projects across various AMP cycles. Our extensive portfolio includes innovative approaches such as wetland systems that significantly reduce carbon footprints and advanced catchment strategies aimed at minimizing stormwater overflows.

As a member of our local team, you will be both challenged and supported by industry experts within the Stantec community. We are committed to staff development through initiatives like our Storm Overflows Academy, which fosters collaboration across diverse sectors within our organization to meet the ambitious goals related to stormwater management.

You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team comprising 110 professionals from Stantec, spread across multiple UK offices and a team in Pune, alongside our clients and contractor partners, working together to deliver impactful projects throughout the UK and Ireland. This position offers a unique chance to contribute to a forward-thinking team of engineers, focusing on a specialized modelling framework while playing a role in industry-leading initiatives.

In our Newcastle office, recent projects have included the Surface Water Management Solution for Fellgate, the Johnson Street Storm Overflow Screening Project, and Bathing Water Studies for Northumbrian Water.

Candidate Profile

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a preference for membership in a relevant professional institution such as ICE or CIWEM. Successful applicants will exhibit technical expertise across a broad spectrum of urban drainage modelling tasks and demonstrate proficiency in InfoWorks ICM and other relevant modelling and GIS software.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with proposals and preparing cost estimates within our project frameworks. The role entails participating in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of urban drainage projects while ensuring the highest standards of delivery excellence, technical governance, and adherence to best practices.

Exceptional communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for report writing, developing and delivering presentations (both internal and external), and establishing connections within the industry.

The ideal candidate will seamlessly integrate into a team environment, collaborating closely with fellow modelling professionals in urban drainage, while maintaining a strong focus on client service.
