- £24,632.63A modern, progressive zoo offering opportunities to work as a Keeper on one of our large and varied bird sections to assist with the daily care and management of species including Psittaciformes, Sphenisciformes, Ratites, Passerines, Galliformes and Columbiformes.

The Role:


We are looking for a dedicated, hard-working individual with excellent avicultural knowledge and a proven track-record of practical experience of bird husbandry in a zoological setting.


  • Have an HND or degree level qualification in a zoological related science.
  • Have a strong work ethic
  • Be an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated team player
  • Have excellent observational skills and an eye for details
  • Have previous experience working with large aquatic filtration systems
  • Have a demonstrable knowledge of bird training techniques
  • Have guest hosting/presenting skills and demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Have a good understanding of risk assessments and safe operating procedures
  • Competency in the use of computers and basic software packages, including ZIMS software, would be advantageous for this role
  • A full clean UK driving licence is essential.

The package:

- £24,632.63 per annum based on 40 hours per week

  • Hours of work are 40 hours per week, worked 10 days out of 14, including weekends and Bank Holidays as rostered.
