About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Twilight Keeper to join our professional team at Chester Zoo. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of animal husbandry, welfare, and exhibitory are maintained on the Twilight section.

This is a truly unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of mammal species, including Aardvark, Red Panda, Giant Anteater, and naked mole rats, as well as two Bat species.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead by example in maintaining the highest standards of animal husbandry, welfare, and exhibitory.
  • Supervise students and interns working alongside Keepers to undertake daily animal care duties, focusing on husbandry, welfare, and exhibitory.
  • Deliver memorable and informative experiences for our visitors.
  • Work independently, but also as part of a large team, to achieve our goals and objectives.
  • Share knowledge and ideas to improve animal care and welfare.

Requirements
  • Enthusiasm and motivation to work as part of a team.
  • Open-mindedness to developing and implementing new ideas for improving animal care and welfare.
  • Experience working with a variety of small mammal species, ideally in a similar zoo environment.
  • Excellent husbandry knowledge and the highest standards of exhibitory.
  • Outstanding observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Good understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK driving license valid in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Competency in the use of computers and basic software packages, including ZIMS software.
