Speciality Coordinator Gynaecology

The Gynaecology service currently has a position available for a flexible, Band 4 Speciality Co-ordinator to provide a comprehensive line management and administrative service to the unit in an efficient and timely manner.
In addition to the Consultants, the successful applicant will provide support to the Clinical Admin and Service Line Manager's therefore it is essential that you are computer literate and have demonstrable medical secretarial experience.
You will have good communication skills with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of confidentiality together with excellent organisational skills.
Previous NHS experience would be advantageous but is not essential.Job Purpose:
To provide a comprehensive, efficient, administrative service for Obstetrics & Gynaecology in order to contribute to the smooth running of the department.
Provide the outpatient and theatre rota co-ordination, resolve data quality issues and monitor the RTT position thereby enabling the 18-week RTT target to be achieved by the care group.
Act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
Use their initiative and take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their work and the service provided to patients.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Speciality Coordinator
- Responsible for the supervision and training of medical secretaries and support secretaries. Where appropriate manage and supervise members of the team.
- Assist with the training of newly appointed temporary, locum or other secretarial and supporting them during their assimilation.
- Ensure outpatient referrals are managed in accordance to Trust Waiting List Policy.
- Ensure that patients are added to the IP/DC waiting list in accordance to Trust Waiting List Policy.
- Coordination of specialty waiting lists/PTL's, including Cancer PTL within the framework of the Trust's waiting list policy.
- Work with the Clinical Admin Manager to ensure key performance standards in relation to patient access are met.
- To support the medical administrators, appointments teams and admissions team with waiting list management and queries.
- To be the Care Group Lead for DRSS
- To follow and implement the Trust and MOD Waiting List Policies within the Care Group
- To complete data quality reports and returns, advising and training staff as appropriate to prevent data quality issues
