Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership and governance of new qualifications, assessments and clear oversight and management of our qualification and assessment design and development.
  • Making decisions and influencing on development matters at a senior level both within the organisation and externally, ensuring there is a deep understanding of the impacts of decisions on the Development team, working closely with the Head of Product,Head of Assessment, Head of Regulation and Compliance, Head of Technical Standards, Head of Fulfilment, as well as the wider business, stakeholders and customers.
  • Providing focussed assessment, development and leadership guidance and support for the Senior Managers in Development.
  • Having processes in place to ensure that City & Guilds work effectively, in line with both regulatory and quality needs as well as customer needs to design, develop high quality qualifications and assessments.
  • Raising the status and recognition of Development team internally, speaking up and representing their interests in the Directorate and the wider organisation. Raising the profile/status internally and externally of City & Guilds. External recognition ofthe strategic importance City & Guilds attach to assessment design quality and developmental processes.
  • Fostering strong relationships with external stakeholders amongst key stakeholders including: Ofqual, IFATE, DfE, QW, partner Awarding Organisations.
  • Setting the overarching strategy and direction for the Development team
Identifying, mitigating and managing risks to the integrity and validity of assessments.

Profile

  • Deep and demonstrated expert knowledge, understanding and experience of bestpractice assessment theory and practice
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of highquality qualification design and development principles and process in relation to high stakes qualifications, such as Functional Skills, T levels, Technical qualifications and EPA to high quality and to agreed timelines.
  • Regulatory knowledge: understanding of the regulatory requirements and governmental policies that affect vocational and technical qualifications.
  • Welldeveloped Leadership skills, including: leading, motivating and supporting teams, experience of improving culture, cultivating talent and ways of working.
  • Ability to deliver assessment design and development to plan: ontime and on budget high quality standards.
  • Experience of working with crossfunctional teams to achieve high quality qualifications and customer experience.
