About the Department:


SOAS Library is one of the world's most important academic libraries for the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and is designated one of only five National Research Libraries in the UK.

The Library attracts students, scholars and visitors from all over the world.

The Library houses over 1.3 million volumes at the SOAS campus at Russell Square in central London, together with a major collection of archives, manuscripts, rare books and special collections, a Digital Library and an ever-growing network of electronic resources.


About the Role**:


We are looking for a Reader Assistant to work with our team of specialist Subject and Regional librarians and other library staff to review our collection.

In particular, the role will work to prepare SOAS Library main for refurbishment and upgrade by describing material, moving, shelving and reshelving books.

Your knowledge of a SOAS language will allow you to support the library in updating the catalogue for books in that language.
