About the Role

The Library Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the vision and mission of the Library by providing exceptional service to readers and contributing to the collection's preservation and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to readers on sources in the Library, ensuring they have access to the information they need.
  • Supervise visitors to the Library, including researchers, maintenance contractors, and tour groups, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Catalogue and classify a range of printed books, including rare and complex materials, to ensure accurate and efficient access.
About You

We are seeking a highly organized and able individual who can work independently and as part of a team. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deal politely and efficiently with members of the public.

You will also need to demonstrate a commitment to a career in library work and have experience working in a public service environment.
