Job Title: Assistant Librarian

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Librarian to join our team at Kings College School. The successful candidate will play a key role in the management and day-to-day operation of the Memorial Library, ensuring that an effective resource and information service is provided to all pupils and staff.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To assist the Head Librarian in the day-to-day running of the Library services, including the management of information resources and the provision of support to pupils and staff.
  • To ensure that information resources, including the library catalogue, are correctly classified and catalogued, and to assist in the selection, ordering, processing and organisation of resources.
  • To promote resources and reader development through displays and events, and to produce reading recommendation services to support pupils and staff.
  • To assist in the provision of resources and support to teachers and pupils, including the development of information literacy skills and the promotion of reading for pleasure.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with pupils, staff and external partners.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Knowledge of library management systems and information technology, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
