We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified, dynamic and motivated Orthopaedic Practitioner to join the Orthotics & Surgical Appliances team within the Therapies and Rehabilitation Service at University College Hospital (UCH).


The post holder will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality Orthotics Service to patients at UCH, a thriving department in the centre of London.

This job role is a combination of administrative and clinical duties; running the orthotic clinics, supplying and fitting surgical supplies to outpatients e.g.

braces, orthoses, splints as well as supporting inpatient therapists with the provision of spinal braces and Miami Js. Patients are predominantly referred from Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and the Emergency Department but may also receive patients from other referrers. It is unlikely there will be any casting will be required.


If successful, you will join a strong team of Orthotists and Therapists who are experienced and supportive clinicians with close links to the Orthopaedic and Rheumatology teams.

You will also contribute to the administrative support team for the Therapy and Rehabilitation department.


Potential applicants will have completed the British casting certification from British Orthopaedic Association and have previous Orthopaedic Practitioner experience within the NHS (please see Personal Specification for further information).

You should demonstrate evidence of current policies and guidelines, good interpersonal skills and an ability to work flexibly.

As an Orthopaedic Practitioner you will be required to contribute to the education and training of members of the MDT in regard to the supply and fitting of surgical appliances.


This is a great opportunity to work and develop as an individual and as part of a team, gaining clinical and operational experience in a tertiary care setting.
