Summary The Reward & Recognition Lead supports the National Trust through understanding key reward trends, managing the costs and implications of pay and benefit strategies to the organisation, and ensuring the right people with the right skills and valuescan be attracted and retained.

We have a permanent opportunity to lead a small Reward & Recognition team in achieving this purpose.
A salary of circa £50k is available dependent on experience.
Internally this role is known as Reward & Recognition Manager.

We work with managers directly and indirectly to give them the capability and confidence to lead for all things reward to ensure their teams are recognised for the work they do.

The work is interesting, variedand busy at times but we can make a real difference.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.

You will be expected to work alongside your team two daysa week at our head office as a minimum, to attend meetings and support collaborative working.

What you'll be doing You'll report to the Head of Engagement & Reward and help develop a total reward strategy that supports our overall People Engagement plans.

You'll manage and develop a small talented team who'll look to you for guidance.

You'll collaborate with colleagues within the People Engagement team and build strong relationships with key contacts across the broader People directorate.

Developing and leading the implementation of the total reward plan, managing capacity, expectations,and prioritising deliverables.

You'll lead the annual pay review process, ensuring we respond to both internal and external influencing factors to inform our investment.

Leading and managing relationships with our market data service providers to ensure weaccess the most relevant insight and get the best out of our subscriptions.

You'll assist with the development and preparation of board papers to present to senior stakeholder groups such as the Executive team, Board of Trustees and Senior Management Remuneration Committee.

You'll lead our job evaluation policy and processes, supportingefficient team structures and coaching others in good organisational design, along with leading the development of an inclusive benefits offer in line with market best practice.

You'll use your skills to design, deliver and communicate reward policies and processes that improve the working and volunteering experience of our people.

Contributing a reward voice to the development of broader People projects, building both internal andexternal reward networks to learn, share and identify best practice.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Previous experience of delivering a variety of reward activities in a medium to large, complex organisation
  • Experience of implementing significant pay review processes and be confident and practiced in job evaluation methodology, we use Hay
  • A love for being a team player and a people manager, with a pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Excellent analytical, planning and prioritisation skills, alongside a calm approach to a busy workload
  • Ability to think strategically and see the broader view. You are someone who enjoys working with ambiguity and can inspire others through effective influencing, coaching & upskilling
  • Curiosity and tenacity, you'll want to celebrate the everyday whilst keeping an eye on the bigger picture
