We have a fantastic opportunity to a passionate and resilient Pastoral Intervention Officer to join our dedicated 14-16 Alternative Provision.
This is a term-time role working 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.
Responsibilities include:
- Receive and supervise students excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable
- Assist the teaching team with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour/Support/Mentoring plans
- SMART target setting to support the student achievement
- Referral to other support services as appropriate
- Contributing to student progression and career plans
- Develop 1:1 mentoring arrangements with students and provide support for distressed students
- Provide information and advice to enable students to make choices about their own learning/behaviour/attendance
- Challenge and motivate students, promote and reinforce selfesteem
- Provide feedback to students in relation to progress, achievement, behaviour, attendance etc.
- Delivery of the tutorial PSHE to the whole cohort of students.

Education & Training
- GCSE 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
- GCSE 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
- Successful experience of working with young people on a 1:1 and group basis to achieve their career goals (in education, youth work or a community setting)
- Proven experience of working with parents/carers of young people
- Experience of supporting young people and/or vulnerable adults at risk of harm
- Experience of working in partnership with external agencies, for example Children's Services, Social Services or the Police
- Experience of agreeing support plans with individuals
