We have a fantastic opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our 14-16 Alternative Provision department, based at our Springfield Centre.


The purpose of this role is to assist with the service of food and beverages, delivering an outstanding customer service to Bradford College students, staff and visitors.


The 14-16 provision caters for approximately 200 young people who are accessing an alternative education programme, either as a referral from their current secondary school or as home educated children.

The provision has learners with a range of backgrounds and academic abilities, some with EHCPs and others with undiagnosed additional learning needs as well as social, emotional, and behavioural issues, we are a nurturing provision that prides itself on a strong pastoral and well-being support network.


Your approach with students should be respectful and professional at all times, exercising patience, empathy and understanding of their backgrounds and needs.

You should have sound knowledge of the social, economic and personal factors which present risk to students, and be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.


The successful applicant will complete a 2 week training period at our Victoria Building on Thornton Road prior to starting at our Springfield Centre site.


Responsibilities include:

  • To prepare and serve food and beverages at our Victoria and Springfield Centre sites.
  • To work as part of the team delivering an excellent customer service to all customers
  • To ensure the food preparation areas remain clean, tidy and hygienic at all times, carrying out cleaning duties as required.
  • Receive payments using cash and cashless systems.
  • To consistently demonstrate behaviour in line with Bradford College's values
  • To comply with current food safety and health and safety requirements, to implement all necessary policies and procedures
  • To maintain high standards of personal and professional standards at all times
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Education & Training

  • GCSE 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in customer facing roles
  • Previous experience of working in a team
