Our
Achievement Intervention Mentors assist in the development of students' Maths skills at GCSE and pre-GCSE, through the provision of targeted intervention sessions which will take place in the success centres at the college.

This role is key in supporting students to achieve positive outcomes.

What is Culture Fusion?
Culture Fusion is an exciting new initiative unique to Bradford College.

Delivered in a centre dedicated to the needs of young people with various barriers to learning it seeks to build the confidence of these young people through the delivery of a dynamic and exciting curriculum.

Our
_New Directions_ and
_Next Steps_ Learning courses gives students the opportunity to learn a variety of new skills, build their confidence and develop their English and maths skills at a pace appropriate to their needs.

They will be able to participate in taster sessions for potential careers, as well as developing important personal and social skills.

It's an accredited course so students receive valuable real-world qualifications.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be responsible for the operation of the English and Maths Success Centre, our dedicated space for intervention work and individual learner development
  • Monday to Thursday 8:30 to 16:30 and Friday 08:30 to 16:00.
  • Assist students with any queries regarding English or maths that they may have
  • Assist students with using Century Tech, our AI driven online learning platform, making sure that they understand how to proceed
  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective intervention sessions within the success centre for a maximum of 5 students at a time in 1hour time slots
  • Track progress of students accurately and effectively throughout intervention processes
  • Offer support and guidance to students in the completion of work set in their English or maths classes
  • Assist with the promotion of English or maths provision across the college under the umbrella of the success centre
  • Facilitate and support the activities of trainee teachers assisting with English and Maths Success Centre intervention duties
  • Communicating with the English or maths tutor
  • To deliver a wide range of effective and inclusive teaching and learning intervention activities
  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.
  • To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.

Education & Training

  • Level 3 professional qualification in Maths or English
  • GCSE 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Extensive experience of the complexities of Level 2 education, in particular as it relates to alternative provision.
  • Successful experience of working with students on a 1:1 and group basis to achieve their career goals (in education, youth work or a community setting)
  • Proven experience of working with parents/carers of children and young people
  • Experience of working with challenging young people to improve behaviour and attitude to learning.
  • Experience of putting in place interventions that have improved a learners' progress/improve behaviour/ attendance
  • Experience of supervising/leading individuals/a team to successful outcomes
