The Laboratory Technician is responsible for specimen collection, processing, testing, reporting, and quality control in a kind and caring manner.
Properly start lab equipment daily; Follow established procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient results.
- Perform authorized tests within the technician's skill level as determined by education, training or experience and technical abilities.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or results and follow procedures for the reporting and correction of deviations.
- Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Adhere to laboratory quality control procedures and document all Quality Control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.
- Conduct proficiency testing and maintain records which demonstrate that such testing is conducted in the same manner as patient testing.
- Utilize lab software, electronic medical records, and any other lab equipment according to the proper procedure and instruction.
- Regular attendance to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Perform drug screening collection procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Medical Laboratory Technician degree preferred
- 6 months to 1 year of related experience or training preferred
