We are looking to recruit a qualified and experienced B7 CBT therapist for the Fareham & Gosport Specialist Community CAMHS Team within the Hampshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). This will be in support to the ongoing development of psychological interventions within the team for those children on the low mood and anxiety pathway.You will be familiar with working both virtually and face to face with children, young people and families.Your practice will be primarily CBT-based, but you will bring a raft of other clinical skills and experience, preferably from CAMHS. You should be accredited or accreditable with BABCP.The team is made up of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) of innovative and dynamic clinicians who have worked hard to find new ways of providing clinical care to the young people they work with.

Main duties of the job Supported by the Clinical Lead for CBT and Team Manager you will:
  • Provide a qualified, high-quality specialist psychological therapy service to individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, in line with best, evidence-based practice and trust care pathways.
  • Be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.
  • Use analytical and judgment skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues
  • Clinically supervise Psychological Professionals as appropriate including Psychological Therapists, Trainee Psychological Therapists and Psychological Practitioners
  • Professionally supervise and, when appropriate, manage, psychological professionals.
  • Provide consultation and advice about psychological issues to other members of the team/service and other professionals working with service users.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team.
  • contribute to and take responsibility for local service developments under the supervision of the professional lead.
  • Propose and implement policy changes within the area served by the service

  • Recognised/accredited postgraduate level training in a psychological therapy as specified in one of the Appendices
  • Professionally registered as specified in the same Appendix
Desirable
  • Additional pre- and/or post-qualification training as specified in the same Appendix
Experience Essential
  • Substantial post-qualification/accreditation experience of specialist psychological therapy (assessment, formulation and treatment), as specified in the same Appendix, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.A high level of competence in applying a psychological therapy to complex difficulties appropriate for this therapy with the client group, and a proven track record of delivering positive outcomes in this therapyExperience of offering teaching, training and supervision within a demanding organisational context.Significant experience of working with the particular client group served by the team/serviceA high-level specialist knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapy as specified in the same appendix, as applied to the client group using this service.Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the professional registration/accrediting body specified in the same appendix.

  • Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.Good inter-personal and inter-professional skills and ability to work autonomously as a single discipline practitioner in a multi-disciplinary settingSkills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.An ability to make effective use of clinical supervision and to utilise these skills in contributing to clinical consultation within the team and to other professional and non professional groupsAbility to supervise and support psychological therapists in the locality, undertaking appraisals and managing sickness and annual leave where appropriate
